WHEREVER Christian Sprenger is in a swimming pool, chances are Brenton Rickard will not be far away.

The Brisbane pair's rivalry has dominated Australian breaststroke over the past couple of years, with Sprenger often having to swim in the wake of his veteran compatriot.

Springer, 25, admits it has not always been easy but believes he would not be where he is today without his arch rival.
