ON HER way through the Rose City Shoppingworld to buy a lotto ticket yesterday morning, a community member vowed to use the $30 million windfall she was hoping to receive to purchase Slade and hand it over to the Slade Lives Again group.

President Ian Perkins said the woman's sentiment, albeit unlikely to come to fruition, were those he often saw mirrored throughout the community.

This week representatives from the group have manned an elaborate display inside the shopping centre, depicting the past, present and possible future of the site, to which many Warwickites hold a special connection.

Spilling over six boards are countless numbers of photos and extensive information educating passers-by on why the group is so passionate about preserving the campus.

Those who took time to view the display were also able to provide feedback to be handed to council and were given the option to sign a card pledging not to re-elect councillors who sell the campus out of the community. …
