PREMIERSHIP-winning player and coach Nathan Hooper has enjoyed plenty of satisfying moments with Easts in the Ipswich A-grade competition.

However, he rates tomorrow's Ipswich-Toowoomba Combined Competition final as one of his most important conquests.

C[pounds sterling]I personally consider this to be the biggest grand final of the year,C[yen] Hooper said, preparing Ipswich's defending premiers for battle against Toowoomba's top club Newtown.

Easts head into tomorrow's 4.45pm match in Toowoomba, having won the intercity final the past two years.

That included a 3-1 victory over Newtown in last season's decider in Ipswich.

While Easts are on course for another Ipswich A-grade premiership, Hooper remains a strong advocate of the combined competition between two powerful regional hockey centres.

C[pounds sterling]Maybe down the track both comps will be combined and everyone will be playing for this (tomorrow's) trophy,C[yen] he said.

C[pounds sterling]I really pride myself and my boys really pride themselves on performing well in that game and earning their right to play in the game.

C[pounds sterling]They want to put in their best performance to try and win the trophy, not only for ourselves but for the (Ipswich) association.C[yen]

This year's final provides an added challenge for the Tigers as they finished a point behind Newtown in this year's round of combined competition games. …
