NOTHING makes my blood boil more than hearing stories of animal cruelty, particularly towards dogs.

When I heard of the Ellis family losing one beloved staffy and having to watch another gasp for breath after 15 pellets entered his tiny body, I was mad.

What sort of person can pick up a 12-gauge shotgun, take aim and shoot with the intention of killing an innocent creature that probably just wanted a pat?

I understand the three dogs were known to leave the property and go for a wander (as most dogs do at one time or another), but in no way does that justify taking shots at them and putting the owners through the emotional wringer.

But as the age-old saying goes, there are two sides to every story.

There are many sprawling properties in the Pine Creek area, some of which hold sheep and other livestock.
