ROADWORK on Warwick's Fitzroy St irked local business owners yesterday, who complained they were given no notice and access to their premises was blocked.

The scheduled roadwork, which had been delayed due to emergency works in Killarney last week, involved crews repairing the two failures in the bitumen near the central divider at the Albion and Fitzroy St intersection.

A Southern Downs Regional Council spokeswoman said yesterday's work was a C[pounds sterling]temporary fixC[yen] with project scoping work currently being completed for more major repairs to Fitzroy St under a combination of flood mitigation works and some capital works, to be completed this financial year.

Work was finished on the northern part of the divider yesterday afternoon but by that time John Rye, franchisee of Eagle Boys, had already questioned the work after he said he said he saw a period of at least half an hour where no work was being done. He said the road was already blocked when he arrived at about 7am. …
