BYRON Bay skateboarder Hailey-Marie McFadden wasn't going to waste a day of sunshine, as she was out and about soaking up some rays yesterday morning.

The 22-year-old surfing enthusiast was determined to stay out in the sun for as long as possible.

aI start work in the afternoons, so I try and get out during the day as much as I can,a Ms McFadden said.

aThere aren't any waves today, but it was a good chance to take the skateboard out.

aI hope the sun stays out so I can come back and hang around for the rest of the week.a

She will have to make the most of the warm weather today and tomorrow.

Chief Meteorologist at the weather channel Dick Whitaker predicts afternoon showers as part of an easterly change for Ballina, Byron Bay and Lismore.

aYou can expect sunny days and cool nights to continue,a Mr Whitaker said.

aAfternoon showers will start on Thursday and go right through to Sunday.

aThe best days to get outdoors will definitely be Wednesday and Thursday.
