YEPPOON'S Variety team is accelerating towards a new start line for the 2011 Bay Whales to Hay Bales Variety Bash.

Greg and Debbie Wilson, Ron and Jenny Gall, Wayne and son Geoffrey Glen are all embarking on the 500km journey and have been busy preparing the old bug they ran in last time as well as working on a new bash vehicle, a 1971 Kombi van.

C[pounds sterling]The van is still under wraps but you'll see it burning around the streets soon,C[yen] Greg said.

C[pounds sterling]Ron picked it up off the side of the road from an old farmer for 100 bucks. We've been working on it every weekend and nights to have it ready in time for the bash in August.

C[pounds sterling]It's had a new paint job, put new windows in it and windscreen, inner lining and pop top and we are tweaking the new engine so it lasts the distance.C[yen]

This year's expedition starts in Hervey Bay with a convoy of bash and official vehicles, which will raise money for sick and disadvantaged Queensland kids. …
