- A 45-year-old woman was charged with burglary, possession of a controlled substance, driving on a suspended license and grand theft Wednesday after she was pulled over in her Infiniti car about 10:15 p.m. and found with property that was stolen earlier that night from a home in the 900 block of Sailfish Drive, police said. Police say neighbors near the home on Sailfish called officers to the scene when they saw a woman leaving the home through a window with a television that she put into an Infiniti. A short time later, officers on patrol pulled the woman over in her car in the 800 block of Plaza Drive where they found a Phillips 32-inch flat screen TV, jewelry and a cell phone that was reported stolen from the home on Sailfish. Police say they also found several pills of the drugs Xanax and Percoset in the woman's pockets.

- A 58-year-old man was charged with domestic battery after a 39-year-old woman was beaten in a hotel room about 11:15 p.m. July 23 at the One Ocean Resort, 1 Ocean Blvd. Police say hotel workers had to escort the man out of the resort following a dispute with the woman. Police say the man held the woman's hands to the side of her body and she struggled to get free. After she got free, the man pushed her to the floor and the two fought more before the dispute was broken up by hotel workers and police arrived to arrest the man.


- Police arrested a 27-year old woman Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. for leaving the scene of a hit-and-run crash that she caused around 11:45 p.m. Sunday in which a male and a female pedestrian were injured at the intersection of First Street and Third Avenue North, police said. Police said she turned herself in through her attorney and was the only one in the car, and that the incident appears to have been an accident. She was booked into Duval County Jail on felony charges of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in injury.

- A 30-year-old man was arrested about 4:20 p.m. July 15 at Hampton Inn at 1220 Marsh Landing Parkway after a witness called police to report seeing the man shove a woman into the trunk of his car and drive away. The witness said the man punched the woman before slamming the trunk closed. Police said they found the vehicle at the rear of the hotel, registered to the defendant who was staying there with the woman. When police went to his room he told them he let the woman out of the trunk, at which point she yelled at him, and they both went back to their room.

- Police arrested a 36-year-old homeless man for petit theft July 23 at 8:38 p.m. at the beach at the 600 block north near the Jacksonville Beach pier. Police said he went up to a woman on the beach and grabbed her tote bag, which contained a towel and car keys, and ran off. …
