SHAUN Tencate from Team Tackle World bagged himself a monstrous 30kg mackerel to win the fourth annual Spanish Shootout out of Mackay Harbour at the weekend.

C[pounds sterling]My legs were shaking and my heart was pumping,C[yen] Shaun said.

C[pounds sterling]It seemed like it took forever to get it in, but in reality it was probably only about five minutes.C[yen]

Shaun's fish was easily the biggest weighed in at the Spanish Shootout and it won him $1000 in cash.

Shaun, who works for the Commonwealth Bank, has been fishing in Mackay all his life and he was aboard his mate Dave Skinner's boat Mistress, with Clinton Hassan also on board, and they fished out at the Beverley Group.

Shaun landed his biggie about 9am on Sunday.

C[pounds sterling]We've fished this area before and a few years ago we got some big spanish mackerel, up to about 35 to 38kg, but they were too big for one person to lift,C[yen] Shaun said.

C[pounds sterling]So that's why we went back to the same area this year and it paid off.C[yen]

The leading anglers weighed in a total of 12 major spanish Co with Craig Breadsell getting a 21kg monster and David Moore landing one which hit the scales at 20. …
