CONGRATULATIONS must go to Brothers club on the wonderful season it is having thus far, being minor premier in three grades Co women's, League 11 and A-grade.

It does not have an under-18 team this season but is confident on being able to field a side next year.

This Saturday, we start the rundown to the first Sunday in September, with the first round of finals at Salter Oval.

As A-grade and league 11's minor premiers, Brothers will have the weekend off, while the U-18s will also have a bye.

In the early A-grade game on Saturday, Hervey Bay will plays Isis and the loser is out for the season. The main game will be between Wests and Easts, with the winner to play Brothers and the loser to play the winner of the Hervey Bay-Isis match.

In League 11, Across The Waves play East, with the loser out and the winner to play the loser of the Wests-Hervey Bay match. The winner of that game will play Brothers.

In the women's, Brothers will also have the weekend off. In the elimination semi-final, Easts play Wests, with the winner to play the loser of the Cherbourg-Hervey Bay match and the winner of that match will play Brothers on Saturday week.

The Bundaberg Rugby League is planning a big day at the grand finals on Sunday, September 4, with face painting, women's football catching competition and an undies relay at half-time in the main game.

All teams for the undies relay are to be nominated with the BRL secretary Robyn Anderson by August 28.

Talking of the grand final, we are able, through the help of the juniors, to play all matches on the main field at Salter Oval. Times for all games will be advised over the next couple of weeks.

Next Wednesday is the BRL Awards Night at the ATW Sports Club, starting at 6.30pm.

It should be a great evening, with no doubt plenty of surprises in store. See your club for tickets.

Great to see the under-15 and 17 girls playing games at Across The Waves grounds.

These girls have been keen to play in some type of competition for some time and this will hopefully lead to more games in the future. …
