Coffs Players in Top Form at Masters Tournament

COFFS Harbour players took part in the Masters squash tournament at Port Macquarie last week.

This event proved popular with more than 100 players turning out for the two days. Players came from many parts of the state. Among our locals, John Clerke found his weekend form in division three, outstaying Paul Herring to win in three close games.

Both players earlier had to work hard to survive some tough five set matches on Saturday to advance to the finals.

Ian Cork was a winner in division five, defeating Steven Fry of Goulburn.

Shaun Lawer was runner-up in his division giving the Coffs participants a good result for the weekend.

Junior competition

JUNIOR players were keen to step up and show their form with the new gradings in place and the competition now in its second week.

In division one, Aden Smith and Connor Herring share equal first on 15 points.

Division two has a clear leader in Mitchell Steel on 18, two points clear of Peter McKenzie. …
