Pardew Is Hoping for Second-Half Show Again

ALAN PARDEW wants his side to pick up where they left off against Arsenal in tomorrow night's Premier League opener with the Gunners.

United made the greatest Premier League comeback of all time against the Londoners last time and almost snatched what would have been an incredible win when Kevin Nolan's late shot whistled past the post in the eight-goal thriller.

Pardew has already told his players that anything near the start Newcastle made against Arsenal last time isn't good enough.

He told the Chronicle: "Last time we didn't make a tackle in the first half and didn't get near them.

"In the second half we did make tackles and got near them, when you put teams under pressure you find their flaws.

"They had a guy sent off and they conceded sloppy goals and in the end we should have won it.

"Hopefully we learn from it. You only look at their side to see they are a class team.

"They signed Alex Chamberlain for pounds 15m who I had at Southampton, I doubt he'll even make the bench so that shows you what they still have. …
