IPSWICH'S garbage truck fleet will provide a constant reminder to residents to help put a C[pounds sterling]crim in the binC[yen], thanks to a new public awareness campaign.

Over the next six months, council's 26-strong trash collection fleet will be fitted with new signage promoting the Crime Stoppers phone number.

The initiative has resulted from a partnership between council, Crime Stoppers, the Queensland Police Service and the local crime prevention unit.

City works committee chairman Trevor Nardi said he was pleased to be working on the C[pounds sterling]Bin the crimC[yen] community education program.

C[pounds sterling]This provides a way in which the Crime Stoppers message can be spread far and wide as the waste trucks move throughout the city on their collection runs each week,C[yen] Cr Nardi said.

C[pounds sterling]Council is pleased to be able to lend its support to Crime Stoppers in this way and believes this campaign will provide a visible reminder of the telephone hotline. …
