Performing Arts Studio Is Dancing Up Plenty of Spirit; Ashley Molloy's Energising Dance Lessons a Step to Behold

WATCHING young girls in frilly coloured tutus prance elegantly across the dance floor brings Ashley Molloy a deep feeling of heartfelt satisfaction.

This is what she was born to do.

The popular dance instructor from Grafton, who describes herself as a ballet girl through and through, achieved her lifelong career ambition in February when she opened her own studio; Ashley Molloy Performing Arts.

In just six months, the studio has danced up a storm of success. And for every little girl who dreams of being Swan Lake's heroine Odette and every little boy who aspires to be the next Billy Elliot, Ashley teaches all the dance techniques in a fun filled environment with plenty of cheer and giggles along the way.

aI have 40 students enrolled at the dance studio and I love teaching every one of them,a she said.

aWe all have a great time together and I really enjoy passing on my knowledge of different dances to my students.

aI teach a range of styles from ballet and jazz to contemporary and modern dance for soloists and my students vary in age from two-and-a-half to sixteen.a

aI always wanted to be a dance teacher and I'm having an amazing time at the studio.a

A born and bred Graftonian, Ashley has been a ballet dancer since she was three years old. She trained at the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) in London and travelled to New York in 2006 and 2007 on a scholarship with the Ajkun Ballet Company where she performed as a soloist.

Ashley is now enrolled in a two-year course with RAD to further her teaching skills and knowledge of dance.

aI was very excited to open my own studio and being a local, there are many people in the area who know me and I think that gives the studio a very personal feeling.

aThe thing I love most about having the dance studio is being able to provide a safe environment where little kids can come and dance and have fun without feeling pressured to succeed. …
