NEWTOWN can retain its Toowoomba Hockey Association men's A1 minor premiership with a victory over Norths in the final round of fixtures today.

A slip-up against last-placed Norths could cost Newtown, with Red Lion only one point behind the league leaders heading into its clash with 2010 premiers Past High.

But Newtown is riding high after winning the Presidents Cup last weekend and manager Chris Weedon hopes his side can keep up the good form heading into the finals.

aWe're going reasonably well at the moment,a Weedon said.

Newtown will be without the services of captain Matthew Siebuhr who injured his thumb in last week's Presidents Cup triumph over Red Lion.

Red Lion was on track to claim the first piece of silverware this season in last week's final, leading Newtown 6-3, until a Brent Garske double inspired his team back into the match. Despite escaping with a 6-6 draw and the Presidents Cup, courtesy of his team's higher seeding, Weedon knows Red Lion poses a real danger heading into the finals. …
