THE Slade Lives Again group met at Slade Hall yesterday to finalise its tender to the Southern Downs Regional Council for the school campus.

President Ian Perkins said his group was putting in a tender to the council with a business plan which would mean Slade Lives Again would be covering redemption and interest at market rates in five years.

C[pounds sterling]We want the council to provide vendor finance and we will pay it back over a long period of time,C[yen] Mr Perkins said.

Tenders close on September 1 for the two groups that have expressed interest. The group needs to raise a deposit of $20,000 by September 1.

Mr Perkins is confident the target will be reached.

C[pounds sterling]We have already raised $15,000,C[yen] he said.

At the beginning of yesterday's meeting, Mr Perkins told the crowd of 50 that a community survey in Rose City Shoppingworld found 74% wanted to keep Slade.

C[pounds sterling]A total of 23% stated they wanted it kept for education. …
