RUGBY: James O'Connor will miss Australia's Tri Nations decider against New Zealand in Brisbane on Saturday night after being suspended until August 28 for failing to attend last week's Rugby World Cup squad announcement.

The Australian Rugby Union ban also ruled the goalkicking winger out of the Australian Barbarians' clash with Canada on the Gold Coast on Friday night.

O'Connor has also been handed a $10,000 suspended fine for his failure to attend last Thursday's announcement in Sydney and the accompanying World Cup team photo shoot.

The suspended fine will remain in place until December 31, 2012.

The 21-year-old was asked to provide the ARU with an explanation as to his non-attendance last Thursday.

O'Connor's response was received earlier yesterday.

His unforgiven blunder has handed tough-tackling centre Anthony Faingaa his big Rugby World Cup audition against the All Blacks.

The decision is set to spark a backline reshuffle to be announced on Tuesday and it appears Faingaa will be the big beneficiary with a promotion to outside centre, and Adam Ashley-Cooper shifting to O'Connor's right wing. …
