BLYTH boss Steve Cuggy is hoping his side can bounce back at Gainsborough Trinity tomorrow following their mauling at Guiseley.

Spartans were made to pay in midweek for passing up a number of gilt-edged chances in midweek before Guiseley broke away to take the lead and duly ran riot, winning 5-0. It was a hard one to take and Cuggy states that knee-jerk reactions are not the order of the day.

But lessons will have to be learned lest another hammering like this is dealt to them.

Cuggy said: "I was massively disappointed with the Guiseley result.

"We went to their place on the back of a good result the previous Saturday so it was a hard one to take.

"It's got to be a bit of a lesson for us and hopefully we can learn from it and also improve. We struggled in all areas, to be perfectly honest.

"There are a few individuals who did come out with their heads held high, but we didn't take our chances when we had them before their first goal. …
