CQ represented at QSL final

FOOTBALL: Central Queensland is represented at this weekend's Hyundai QSL final with both Tim English and Sam Fisk playing in an invitation team in the curtain raiser.

Now, two more local players have gained their chance with Jono Sauer and Frenchville goalkeeper Robert Day selected in the under-20 squad for North Queensland.

Cougars' chief executive Bevan Dingley said the North Queensland team would play a match against Brisbane Roar Youth later next month.

Dingley said their selection proved the pathway to a higher level of the sport was working.

BOXING: A mooted rematch with Britain's Kevin Mitchell or a domestic blockbuster with Lovemore Ndou have prompted Michael Katsidis to resume training just one week after his last fight.

With the options of an October 15 London bout with Mitchell or a November date in Australia with Ndou, Katsidis quickly returned to his training camp in Thailand following his August 13 third-round knockout of Mexican Michael Lozada on the Gold Coast. …
