AUSSIE RULES: Australian Rules football in Capricornia is continuing to grow and president of the local association John Round admits expansion of the Capricornia competition is an option for the future.

C[pounds sterling]We are looking at increasing to 18 rounds in 2013,C[yen] Round said.

Currently the competition is just 15 rounds and the sport's administrators know there are a number of things to take into consideration, including current pitch usage where sports would overlap.

Last week BITS had its top and reserve grade teams playing in finals and Round said the Boyne Island club still had 15 players on the sideline who were unable to gain selection for either team.

This provided speculation that the Gladstone/ Boyne Island area is up to putting an extra team into future competitions.
