Bunt Sizzles in Drizzle at Gladdy

GOLF: Rain failed to put Rockhampton's Dean Bunt off his stroke as he shot a par round of 72 to take out the inaugural Central Queensland Champion of Champions event at Gladstone.

Rain fell throughout the tournament, but Bunt was in sizzling form winning the event by two shots from the in form Central Queensland representative player Michael Neaten on 74.

The result was a reversal as Bunt qualified for the event by finishing runner-up to Neaton in the Rockhampton men's closed championships in July.

Bunt started his golf careeras a junior member of the Rockhampton Golf Club.

Gladstone's Dave Rauter had a very comfortable win in the B-grade by 10 shots, finishing with a 78 ahead of Miriam Vale's Bill Collins on 88. Calliope's Doug Young was also a clear winner in C-grade scoring a round of 89 to beat Gracemere's Dean Dawson who carded a 97.

The net events went to Gladstone Scott Kean, in A-grade, from Boyne Island's Mark Jefferies. …
