A NEW church will open its doors in Kawana tomorrow, hoping to reach some of the a90% of non-churchgoersa in the region.

But while Global Connexions might be new, the pastor at the helm is a familiar face.

Pastor Neil Miers will return to the pulpit after nearly three decades away from the Coast.

And the timing on Father's Day couldn't be more appropriate.

Pastor Miers, who pioneered the Christian Outreach Centre at Woombye, has arguably been called the father of the Pentecostal church movement.

From humble beginnings the ministry of Christian Outreach Centres has spread across the globe with 1000 churches in 40 nations.

Pastor Miers has been firmly behind the church development in his role as international president.

He resigned three years ago, but continued his speaking and engaging with churches across the world.

Then, three months ago, he heard the unmistakeable voice of God telling him to return to his aunfinished businessa on the Sunshine Coast. …
