Tight Tussles at Football; High-Pressure Games Often Decided by a Goal

FOOTBALL: Competition is so tight in the Mackay premier men's and women's competitions that sometimes just one scoring opportunity can make all the difference.

Such was the case in last weekend's premier women's contest between Wanderers and RSJPL U17 Girls.

In a classic game of high-pressure football, both teams displayed their full range of skills in an entertaining fixture.

The ability of the young U17 Girls outfit to capitalise on their scoring opportunity proved the difference between the two teams.

The U17 Girls took the lead in the first half through Katrina Parry, who continued her good run of goal-scoring form.

Just before this opportunity presented itself, however, Wanderers were deprived of a goal through a fantastic save by U17 Girls goalkeeper Hannah Giannangelo.

Both teams continued to play an attacking brand of football in a tight arm-wrestle right to the final whistle. …
