RUGBY LEAGUE: Brothers could lose a large chunk of their 4BU/Hitz FM A-Grade Premiership winning team but for now coach Dean Akers is just savouring a glorious victory in his first year as senior coach.

Akers said a string of their stars had been approached by his predecessors Andrew Hamilton and Craig Buckley, who are now coaches of Gladstone Valleys, with big-money job offers in the mines and to play for the club.

However, Akers said they would just enjoy their presentation dinner tomorrow night after their well executed 38-12 grand final win over Hervey Bay Seagulls on Sunday, then assess player losses and start work on coming up with a competitive roster for 2012 in coming weeks.

Shaun Collins capped a superb season when he took out the Les Somerville Medal, presented by State Member for Bundaberg Jack Dempsey for the Best and Fairest in the grand final after also taking out the Bundaberg Rugby League A-Grade Player of the Year award.

But Akers said there were many heroes.

C[pounds sterling]Shaun is just a remarkable footballer Co he has broken the Bundaberg try-scoring record and some of the tries he has scored have been amazing, beating three or four and sometimes five, breaking through and getting away,C[yen] Akers said.

C[pounds sterling]Matty Templeman has also been very good Co he got the offer to go to the (Central) Comets (in the Queensland Cup) half-way through the season but said he would only go as long as he was dual-registered. He wanted to fulfil his commitments to Brothers Co that was very respectful of Mat for the club.

C[pounds sterling]There were blokes who have been there for a while who turned up again, ready to go, and they haven't lost their hunger, guys like Cameron Ricciardi, Aaron Hall and Matt Hall.

C[pounds sterling]But you could mention the whole lot of them Co they are a tremendous group of boys and they deserve every success that comes their way. …
