WHAT a great day for semi-finals last Saturday. Great weather, not too hot and definitely no rain.

The day started with the slick Grafton High Cruzers playing Kylies Kasuals in AR3. Cruzers were strong and committed and Naomi McDonald scored in the middle of the first half from a ball sent across the circle. Ten minutes later, Chloe Duroux sent in a scorcher from a corner. Kylies regrouped after half-time and pressured Cruzers and were rewarded with a goal to Kim Steele but could not find the equaliser.

In the other AR3 game, Baileys Stars were very determined in their game against Kylies Kosmics. Both teams started strongly but Baileys were able to score in both halves, with goals to Daina Wratten and Tora Cavanagh. Baileys will meet Kasuals tomorrow in the preliminary final.

In AR2, the minor semi-final was played between Baileys Diamonds and Services Gold. Lorna Felton was down to watch both Baileys teams after her knee operation and she would have been so pleased with their play. Baileys started with strong attack and put pressure on the Services Gold backs. Leanne Williams, Maria Felton and Karen Cleaver scored for their 3-0 victory. Services Gold has its presentation night tomorrow night so maybe they were in a rush to party.

Kylies Kaos played against Demons Scotts in the major semi-final. These teams have been neck and neck all season but it appeared that Kaos was the hungrier team and it has progressed straight to the grand final after a 2-0 win.

Two of Kaos's new recruits, Lyn Newby and Lisa Gobo, were the scorers for the match. Demons will have to face Baileys tomorrow for the right to have another go at Kaos.

Demons Red players were thrilled to sneak into the AR1 grand final, when they defeated Village Angels by one goal. Janine Duroux was the only player to score.

In the other semi, Kylies Klassics were up against Old Stars, who were leading 1-0 (Aleeshia Kilduff). With 25 seconds to go, Jane Wear, from Klassics, sent a beautiful pass across the circle and Viv Nicholls scored from the left post. After 10 minutes of extra-time, no one was able to find the goal so the game went to penalty strokes. …
