A THREE goal haul by Tim Bothams Plumbing's Laytoya Larsen was the difference in an extremely close Gympie women's hockey final.

TBP faced off against Tyrepower in the decider on Friday night.

Larsen was on fire for the blue side, scoring three goals a the most important in the second stanza of extra time.

Tyrepower spokeswoman Amanda Millard said the game was very tight and Tyrepower just didn't take their chances.

A combination of great TBP defence and wayward shooting contributed to the low conversion rate.

However Millard and Linda Dray did score for Tyrepower, but the red team was run down in extra time, 3-2.

In the men's final Brad Adams Construction took out their first ever Empire Hotel Cup 3-2 over last year's premiers Koolewong Par 3.
