LADY Ottoline Morrell, a passionate and eccentric patroness of the arts, will be the subject of a Rockhampton branch of ADFAS (The Australian Decorative and Fine Arts Society) address tonight, September 16, at Middle Hall, The Range.

The address will be presented by Sandra Pollard, who has been lecturing in England for more than 35 years for organisations such as the National Trust and The Art Fund.

Sandra is also an associate lecturer with the Open University and a trustee of the Bowes Museum.

She describes Lady Morrell as a flamboyant and eccentric aristocrat, who loved to dress extravagantly and entertain lavishly, both in London and her beautiful Jacobean house, Garsington, near Oxford.

Lady Morrell was friend (and often mistress) of many artists, including Augustus John, Henry Lamb, Roger Fry and Stanley Spencer; writers like D H Lawrence, and intellectuals including Bertrand

Russell.
