ONE of Grafton's long-established community arts organisations, Grafton Artsfest, is very sadly coming to a close.

The autumn and spring festivals have provided rich cultural experiences for students far and wide to gather to enhance and enjoy their creative abilities.

While visual arts have been the focus, there are always some performing arts workshops and concerts. Come along to one or all of the following events and share your appreciation of Fay Boyd and her team of volunteers for their sustained dedication over the past 18 years.

Big 6 Jazz Concert will be on Sunday, September 25, at the Clarence Valley Conservatorium, starting 8pm. This is the third year the Big Band Workshop has been held and the second year the tutors will perform themselves.

Some of the performers are: John Hoffman Co one of Australia's leading trumpet players and educators; Ken Stubbs Co a cool, swinging saxophonist and performer in jazz groups; John Morrison Co the master of swinging beats and driver of the band from his drum kit; and Jacki Cooper, who will front the group with her smooth vocals. …
