Priest Sets Biggest Winning Margin with Pro-Am Record

BEFORE teeing off on the 18th hole, Tasmania's Scott Priest thought he needed a birdie just to win the $15,000 Lismore Workers Pro-Am yesterday.

He had no idea he was on the verge of a pro-am record for the course.

The 25-year-old followed through on his goal a making a birdie on the last hole to give him a score of 64 points and $2340 in prizemoney.

And that gave him the biggest winning margin in the tournament's 16-year history in Lismore.

It was also the biggest winning margin for the year so far on the Troppo Tour.

He convincingly beat Sydney's David Montefiore and Melbourne's Steven Jones (69).

aI was nervous on that last hole because I thought I needed a birdie to win,a Priest said. aIt wasn't until I entered the clubhouse that I was told otherwise.a

For someone who has found putting difficult on northern NSW and Queensland golf courses, Priest put all that aside yesterday.

The product from Burnie on the north-west coast of Tasmania produced a consistent seven birdies on holes two, four, six, 14, 15, 17 and 18. …
