Albert's to Rejoin Entertainers for One-Off Match

HE WAS the epitome of what Toon Army disciples see as their perfect central defender.

Not a teak hard thug who drops attackers to their knees but an elegant, swaying man of vision who caresses the ball rather than hoofs it into row Z. Philippe Albert will forever be remembered for his glorious contribution to Newcastle's cause on October 20 of 1996, when his audacious chip over a bemused Peter Schmeichel from fully 25 yards confirmed a stunning 5-0 home victory over Manchester United.

That was a classic Entertainers goal, and so Newcastle fans will welcome the news that Albert is returning to play in the grand charity reunion match against Liverpool's all stars at Kingston Park on Sunday October 9, almost 15 years to the day since that epic win.

The Belgian is the latest amongst a galaxy of stars to confirm his appearance alongside the likes of Alan Shearer, Les Ferdinand, Tino Asprilla, Paul Bracewell, Steve Howey, Ruel Fox, John Beresford and Rob Lee. …
