Fast Bowler Checks out Our Up-and-Comers

FORMER New Zealand international and fast bowler Danny Morrison was in town yesterday with Sunshine Coast Scorchers' coach Brad Murphy.

The pair was in town running a series of cricket clinics for Gympie's young up-and-coming cricketers.

Last night they also stayed to help out the Gympie Gold, Gympie's premier cricket side, with some coaching tips at the One Mile nets.

When The Gympie Times caught up with Morrison yesterday he was watching the style of our young bowlers as they rolled the arm over in a game-like situation at One Mile.

Morrison had two bowlers rotating from the one end.

After each delivery he would talk to the youngsters about their run ups, how to hold the ball and other pointers that may help them take more wickets.

He said he, Murphy and the Scorchers had formed a bit of an alliance with Gympie cricket's Gaven Gagen to help build the game in the town.
