A TEENAGER was today due in court after being charged with the murder of a popular Tyneside man.

Cole Wilson of Walker, Newcastle, was knifed to death at a house in Sledmere Close, Peterlee, County Durham, shortly before 3am on Sunday.

A post-mortem examination confirmed the 20-year-old had died from stab wounds to the chest and the side of his head.

John Blackburn, 19, of Holywell Avenue, Walker, Newcastle, was arrested on Tyneside six hours after the incident and last night was charged with murder.

He is due to appear before Newton Aycliffe magistrates today. The Chronicle understands that Blackburn is the brother of Mr Wilson's girlfriend Jade.

Neighbours in Sledmere Close named the householder as Kim Burns, who had lived there for around four months and who has a baby daughter. They said she had moved there from Newcastle and that her boyfriend, understood to be John Blackburn, often stayed there too. …
