Mehdi Will Beid His Time in Toon; Abeid to Play Waiting Game

MEHDI ABEID has admitted playing in Newcastle United's Carling Cup clash with Nottingham Forest has whetted his appetite to make his Premier League debut when Blackburn Rovers come to Tyneside - but says he must play the waiting game.

The skilful French teenager linked up well with Sylvain Marveaux and Hatem Ben Arfa at the City Ground, with boss Alan Pardew now having difficult decisions to make ahead of the visit of Rovers.

Abeid will be lucky to get on the bench if Pardew goes with the same team which drew at Aston Villa.

However, the 19-year-old told the Chronicle: "I hope to play like everybody here, but if I don't it is no problem.

"I will wait - I am really patient.

"It is my dream to play at St James' Park and I hope to play well this season.

"I hope to do well in my next game. I thought I did well, but I know I can do better."
