DETERMINED Northumberland will spend the winter plotting how to avoid a repeat of their summer of discontent.

Team manager Bill Graham and captain Marc Symington are stepping down after a season which ended with the county second-bottom of the Minor Counties' Championship and bottom of their MCCA Trophy group.

The Osborne Avenue side won one of six threeday games and none of their one-dayers in 2011.

North's committee intend to overhaul the club behind the scenes ahead of a landmark 2012 campaign.

Chairman Alan McKenna said: "This was a hugely disappointing season for the club.

"It was clear we needed to look at the problems we face and the way we do things to try to make sure there is no repeat.

"Doing nothing and hoping for the best just is not an option."

North are looking for a new team manager and captain, although Symington will continue to play for the side.

The club are also keen to appoint a coach or, preferably, a playercoach. …
