A MAN who repeatedly bashed another man in the head has been warned by an Ipswich magistrate that C[pounds sterling]one punch can killC[yen].

David Dwayne Anthony Gould had drunk almost 20 beers when he began the assault on a 41-year-old man in an Ipswich caravan.

Gould had been invited to the caravan by a mutual friend on January 27 when things got out of control.

Gould's victim cowered defencelessly on the couch as Gould inflicted multiple punches to the victim's head, pinning him down to attack him.

Police Prosecutor Senior Constable Brad Dick said Gould unleashed a C[pounds sterling]melee of punches to the victim's headC[yen] before being pulled off by a witness.

C[pounds sterling]The defendant told police that he hadn't been provoked but that he wanted to teach the man a lesson because he was being smart,C[yen] Snr Const Dick said.

Police photos of the victim shortly after the attack showed multiple bruises and lacerations, and swelling to the head and face, Snr Const Dick said. …
