EIGHT years ago Nadine Sullivan weighed 43 kilograms and wished she was dead.

The Maroochydore beauty has since turned her life around.

Achieving first runner-up in the Mrs Australia Group pageant in Melbourne on September 19 crowned her long list of achievements since hitting rock bottom.

Dressed in a stunning, body-hugging Richard de Chazal evening gown, Mrs Sullivan came second out of the 500 entrants in the country's largest pageant for women married, divorced or older than 26.

She insisted the pageant was not a beauty contest, but helped raise funds for two charities, Project Dovetail and Women In Need.

This was why Mrs Sullivan was most proud when she received the ambassadorship award.

aIt means I'll be able to get out on the circuit and explain what the foundation can do for women, how they can change,a she said.

Mrs Sullivan has used her own experience to inspire others.

She suffered from agoraphobia, depression and anorexia from being in emotionally and physically abusive relationships with her father and her former boyfriend. …
