GET ready to let your hair down and party like you are in Bali Co well-known Perth-based hip-hop artist Drapht is headed to the Sugarland Tavern.

The Rapunzel singer is headed to Bundaberg for the first time on a tour promoting his latest album, The Life of Riley, which was released earlier this year.

Drapht, along with Adelaide-based Hilltop Hoods, has been pioneering the hip-hop genre in Australia, which has been going from strength to strength in the past decade.

C[pounds sterling]Even six years ago I would never have imagined that I would have any of my songs played on Triple J or one of the commercial stations,C[yen] he said.

The rapper said he was not sure what had sparked the steady rise of hip-hop around the country.

C[pounds sterling]I think it's just its natural evolution,C[yen] he said.

Born Paul Ridge, Drapht is the son of jazz drummer Gary Ridge, who helped develop the rapper's love of music.
