BATTLING Barry Robson insists an impressive unbeaten start to the season has proved what he always believed: Boro are a very good team.

The midfielder has been a storming presence in the rejuvenated side this term and has chipped in with a string of man of the match displays and some crucial goals.

But the Scottish international, who will be hoping to represent his country in tonight's Euro 2012 qualifier against Liechtenstein in Vaduz (6.30pm), insists that the ingredients were always there for Boro to boss the Championship.

And he says that even when Boro were in trouble and in the drop zone last season he always had faith the talented squad would come good.

"I've always said since I came here that we've got a good team and good football players at this club," he said. "Maybe nobody believed me back then because results weren't great but you could look around the dressing room and see the quality in the squad.

"I always believed as a group we were strong. We had good footballers. And we had strong characters. A good mentality.

"It was always there and this season we are showing that is true. But, for me, we've been showing it since Christmas onwards and maybe now people are starting to believe it."

Boro are unbeaten in 10 league games this term but as Robson points out, the impressive upward curve in results goes back into last season.

The team are unbeaten in 14 Championship games, have lost just one in 23 and are unbeaten in seven away games including a club record run of six wins on the bounce going back into last term.

"Full credit to the manager because he's done a great job pulling it together", said Robson. "But for me, it was always a good squad here. "The important factors in the upturn are we've got good players, a good manager and good coaching staff. …
