BANNERS flew from the Scenic Rim's highest peaks yesterday as residents protested against mining.

As part an anti-coal seam gas day of action the Keep the Scenic Rim Scenic group climbed mountains across the region to put up banners with statements including ano gasa, awater not gasa and ano fracking, save our state.a

Mt Maroon, Mt Barney, the Minto Crags, the Lost World Plateau and other Scenic Rim peaks were littered with protesters and their banners.

Keep the Scenic Rim Scenic spokesman Innes Larkin said he was very excited by the day's results.

aI was on the North Ridge of Mt Barney and saw five or six other banners from there,a he said.

aToday sent a real message of solidarity, we don't want mining in our region

aWe will not give up until they (mining companies and government) take notice of us; we are not going away.

aI am so inspired by today; I have new ideas already. …
