Resident Says Yeppoon Draft Plan Is Flawed

IN 10 years time, the Capricorn Coast community expects the revitalisation of the two CBDs and the former railway yard in Yeppoon to be well under way.

However, Yeppoon resident Jacqueline Nagle is concerned the sites, as well as issues such as car parking and initiatives to retain young residents, were not mentioned in the Draft Community and Locality Plan for Yeppoon by Rockhampton Regional Council.

Jacqueline, a mother of two, attended the Yeppoon Be Heard meeting held by council last week, and said she was concerned the plan did not address these issues, nor the significant growth from the mining boom expected in the area over the coming years. She was also concerned there was little to help keep her children living on the coast after they finished school.

aIf you talk to real estate agents, there is an incredible influx already of mining families, so we don't have a problem attracting people, we have a problem in keeping them,a she said. …
