Wadsworth Is Searching for Home Comfort

MICK Wadsworth wants Hartlepool to prove they are over their 'blip' by capitalising on back-toback home games this week, writes JAMES HUNTER.

Pool's club record-breaking nine-game unbeaten start to the campaign was followed by a run of three straight defeats, but Wadsworth's men stopped the rot at the weekend with a hard-fought 3-2 win at Chesterfield.

They now face tough tests against Tranmere Rovers tonight and then promotion contenders Charlton Athletic on Saturday, both at Victoria Park.

Wadsworth hopes Pool's weekend win has put them back on track and they can now recapture the momentum they built up at the beginning of the season.

He said: "It was a good win at the weekend and it was just what we needed after three defeats.

"We have to hope our blip is now over - but I guess we will know better whether that is the case after tonight's game.

"The main thing is we returned to winning ways and it was quite a pleasing performance overall.

"We fell behind but we came back strongly, and it was great to see us score three goals from open play after only managing one penalty in the three defeats that had gone before.

"To be honest, though, I don't care what the goals were like because we are back scoring and winning.

"Our tails should be up now and hopefully we can go on from here and follow it up with another performance and a victory against Tranmere and then take it forward again at the weekend against Charlton."

Pool go into tonight's game in seventh place in League One, ahead of eighthplaced Rovers on goal difference but having played one game less than the Merseysiders.

Rovers arrive at the Vic in a good vein of form, with Les Parry's side having won their last three games in all competitions, and remaining unbeaten in their last five.
