Prince of Peace Charismatic Episcopal Church in Jacksonville celebrated the restoration of its church building Sunday with a special service.

The building had been heavily damaged by smoke during a fire in September 2010. Most of it had been gutted as a result.

The recent service included the Most Rev. David R. Simpson, bishop of the Charismatic Episcopal Diocese of Florida, who blessed the restored worship space and consecrated a new altar, candlesticks and tabernacle.

The ceremony opened with the blowing of the shofar by the Rev. Bill Jordan, the congregation's rector. A new worship banner was presented and new members of the church were confirmed.

The church is located at 5850 Timuquana Road and holds regular services at 10 a.m. Sundays and 7 p.m. Wednesdays. Visit for more information.
