Another Family Forced out? Rent Hikes Make Tough Call for Gladdie Originals

LIVING ROUGH

The Observer came across a man yesterday who had been living in his car for the past 12 months. Parked visibly in a central Gladstone location, the man said while he was working, he refused to pay the exorbitant rent landlords in the region were asking for. He declined to comment any further.

KIANNE Humberstone grew up in Miriam Vale.

Her husband moved to Gladstone when he was five.

And her three children have called the region home since birth.

But now the family is faced with a tough decision.

Do they stay here and cop yet another round of rental increases or move on and make a new life elsewhere?

Ms Humberstone is pretty sure it'll be the latter.
