GROWING up makes its presence felt in varying degrees and the motor world is by no means an exception to the rule.

Currently, the Korean car maker Kia continues to show that small is both beautiful and practical and, in the second generation Kia Picanto which is in the frame here, the company''s smallest offering has been designed to slot seamlessly into Europe''s supermini segment.

The first-generation 2004 models of the Picanto have already made quite name as a downsizer for city dwellers and this latest newcomer recently arrived in five-door guise which adds just a little more size plus comfort, luxury, refinement, style and safety.

Kia maintains its reputation as a trend setter and Picanto Mark 2 features some pretty muscular wheel arches and wide set alloys on the two upper trim levels.

There are a brace of petrol engine options, 1.0-litre and a 1.25-litre which is featured here, all available to deliver performance and economy along the way. …
