A TEESSIDE man who was caught with nearly pounds 200,000 of heroin in his bedsit was jailed for more than six years.

The judge said that Abdul Imdad, 37, a Dutch national, must have been highly trusted to have been left with so much of the Class A drug.

Judge Peter Bowers told Imdad that he had allowed a drugs "Mr Big" to escape justice by lying to the police.

A police drugs expert said that the drugs could be worth considerably more than the pounds 197,100 value put upon them because the purity was higher than normal, said prosecutor Joseph Spencer.

Imdad, pictured, claimed that he was pressured into minding nearly 2,000 grams of heroin because he owed pounds 2,000 from trips to family funerals and to visit his sick wife in Pakistan.

His Middlesbrough home was raised by police on July 4. Imdad said that he was put under pressure to mind the black bag found on top of his wardrobe. …
