LAST week's Coffs Harbour Triathlon Club race was a triple sprint, comprising a shortened swim, bike and run course completed three times.

This format proved to be popular, with 108 starters choosing to complete one, two or three laps of the circuit.

Richard Pearson showed great form again, finishing almost five minutes ahead of his nearest rivals Reece Edwards and Ben Law.

Youngster Tenielle Stubbs led the women home from a fast-finishing Jacinta Smithers, with Kylie Marle crossing in third place.

Held on the same day was the 70.3 (half ironman) in Port Macquarie, with many club members taking on the challenging 1.9km swim, 90km bike ride and 21.1km run. Although conditions were favourable on the bike, a hot and hilly run course proved difficult for many competitors.

Andrew Rowlings was the fastest local home in an impressive time of 4.50.23 to place third in his division. Tim Abbotts showed good strength to push through the end of the run leg with a commendable 4. …
