Excitement Builds as Festive Carnival Nears; Marburg Residents Mark Their Calendars for Celebration

WITH the silly season rapidly approaching, communities across the south-east are laying out the tinsel and awaiting Santa's arrival for Christmas carnivals.

Organisation of the Marburg Christmas Carnival, one of many across the region, is already well under way.

Marburg's carnival will have a ham wheel operating, with 50 hams to be won on the day.

Marburg Christmas Carnival chairman Norm Reinke said the evening promised to entertain patrons young and old.

aIt's always a great night,a he said. aThe people really enjoy it and there are always good crowds.a

Mr Reinke said the carnival had a long history in town.

aThe carnival would have been going on 50-plus years,a he said.

aWe used to take our kids to it when they were young and the eldest is 44 now.

aIt's got a real place in the local calendar.a

Christmas magic will take on a new meaning at the carnival, with Mal the Magician performing on the night along with country musician Shane Hauschildt. …
