AARON Baddeley staged his golfing redemption to keep International hopes alive with the round of the tournament so far on a day of C[pounds sterling]carnageC[yen] at the Presidents Cup at Royal Melbourne.

Having squandered a two-hole lead on Thursday with two to play to share the honours in the foursomes round, Baddeley took charge in yesterday's four-ball with fellow Australian Jason Day to claim a hard fought, 1-up victory over two of the biggest names in golf.

The two-time Australian Open winner took responsibility for the foursomes result, which he said had inspired him for the four-ball round.

C[pounds sterling]Yesterday (Thursday) was very disappointing and I was determined it wouldn't happen again,C[yen] he said.

With Day again his partner, Baddeley seized the opportunity to be true to his word as soon as their American opponents Co Tiger Woods and Dustin Johnson Co made a slip.

When the chance came at the 13th, Baddeley slotted a 12-metre birdie putt to take a one-hole lead he and Day refused to surrender.

For Day, the round was a reversal of the foursomes.
