FTSE Sinks as Eurozone Crisis Rumbles On

THE FTSE 100 Index fell again on Friday, ending the week's trading at 5363 - a fall of 60 points. With the eurozone crisis rumbling on, leaders from the UK and Germany stressed their unity, as Prime Minister David Cameron met the German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin to discuss issues including the plans for a European financial transaction tax. However, Mrs Merkel conceded that no progress was made.

Capita Group released an interim management statement for the first 10 months of 2011. The support services company stated that it is having a successful year in winning new contracts and renewals.

Management said it believed the significant pressure on both public and private sector organisations to explore alternative service delivery models will drive long-term demand. However, the share price dropped 4.1% to 640p, making it the largest loser within the FTSE 100 Index.

BT announced it was to create 300 new jobs in Sandwell, West Midlands. …
