EVERY year, Fraser Coast festivals and events bring millions of dollars into the region.

Current events in the region range from cultural, educational, sporting, historical, and many others in between and take place from Torquay to Teebar, bringing in visitors from all over Australia.

Now, more people are being encouraged to come up with events to help drive the local economy.

Robbie Cornelius, the marketing and development manager for Tourism Fraser Coast, told the Chronicle yesterday that his organisation was keen to help anyone able to bring an event to the area.

aWe're always looking to work with events to promote the area,a Mr Cornelius said, using the example of the highly successful state-wide touch football carnival which took place in Hervey Bay this year. He said Tourism Fraser Coast was already working with the organisers to make the touch carnival bigger and better next year.

Fraser Coast Regional Councillor Anne Nioa agreed that the more people interested in organising events the better it would be for the region, adding that people could apply for aid from Queensland Events and also get help from council in running their events. …
